Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the mobile application Device Update (the "App"), developed and published by YK Cube ("we", "us", or "our"). By installing or using the App you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is available from within the App. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to use a mobile application without parental consent, to use the App. If you are under the age of majority, you may use the App only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and you may make in-app purchases only with their permission.
2. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on Android devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by us.
3. What the App Does
The App helps you check for and keep up with updates on your device. It shows whether an Android OS update is available, displays the versions of Google Play services, Google Play system (Mainline) modules, and Android System WebView, lists the applications installed on your device, and directs you to the Google Play Store or the Android system settings to perform updates or uninstallations. It also offers optional shortcut features (see Section 5) and shows other apps published by us.
The App does not modify your operating system and does not install updates itself. All updates are downloaded and installed by Android and Google Play, and any uninstallation is confirmed by you through the standard Android system dialog. The availability, timing, and content of updates are determined solely by Google and your device manufacturer, not by us. Version information shown in the App is read from your device and may differ from what is shown elsewhere. Some features, such as opening the device's built-in system update screen, depend on your device manufacturer and may not be available on every device.
4. Premium and In-App Purchases
The App is free to use with advertising. You may purchase an optional Premium upgrade that removes advertising and unlocks the shortcut features described in Section 5. Premium is offered as a subscription and/or a one-time purchase, as shown in the App at the time of purchase.
- Billing. All purchases are made through Google Play and are subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Prices are shown in the App before you confirm a purchase and may vary by country and change over time. We do not receive or store your payment details.
- Subscriptions. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the price shown at the time of purchase unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Google Play account settings or from the App's menu. Cancelling stops future renewals; Premium remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Free trials and offers. If a free trial or introductory offer is available, its terms are shown in the App before you accept it. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and you will be charged.
- Restoring purchases. Premium is linked to the Google account used for the purchase. If you reinstall the App or switch devices, use Restore purchases in the App's menu while signed in to the same Google account.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Google Play in accordance with its refund policy. Except where required by law, purchases are non-refundable once the entitlement has been delivered.
- Verification. We use RevenueCat to verify purchases and determine whether Premium is active. Premium status requires an occasional network connection to be verified; if a purchase cannot be verified (for example because it was refunded or charged back), Premium features may be disabled.
- Changes. We may change the features included in Premium or its price for future purchase periods. Price changes for an existing subscription take effect only after you are notified in accordance with Google Play's rules.
5. Shortcut Features
Premium includes Notification Shortcuts (an ongoing notification that holds shortcuts to the App's update screens or to the store page of an app you choose) and Quick Settings Tiles (tiles you can add to the Android quick settings panel for the same purpose). You may configure both features before upgrading; they become active once Premium is active.
- Your shortcut configuration is stored on your device only. Clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App removes it.
- Notification Shortcuts are re-posted after a device restart or an App update as long as the feature is turned on. You can turn the feature off in the App or block its notification channel in your device settings at any time.
- Quick Settings Tiles are added to and removed from the quick settings panel by you, following the standard Android procedure.
- The availability of these features depends on your Android version and device manufacturer. A shortcut whose target is not supported on your device is hidden.
- If Premium expires or is cancelled, Notification Shortcuts are turned off and removed from the notification shade, and the tiles stop opening their targets until Premium is active again. Your selected shortcuts are kept so you can turn the features back on later.
6. Advertising
The free version of the App is supported by advertising. Ads are served by third-party advertising networks such as Google AdMob. Advertisers and ad networks are solely responsible for the content of their ads. You may manage advertising consent and ad personalization as described in our Privacy Policy, or remove advertising by purchasing Premium. Repeated, artificial, or automated clicking on ads is prohibited and may result in ads being temporarily disabled or in termination of your access to the App.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, or sublicense the App or any part of it.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices in the App.
- Circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, the purchase verification used for Premium, or use Premium features without a valid purchase.
- Use the App in any way that interferes with its operation or with the advertising services it relies on, including generating invalid ad clicks or impressions.
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, including its code, design, text, and graphics, is owned by YK Cube and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Android, Google Play, and related marks are trademarks of Google LLC. Other names and logos shown in the App, including those of installed applications, belong to their respective owners. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our or any third party's trademarks.
9. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services, including Google Play, Google Play Billing, Google AdMob, Firebase, and RevenueCat, and may link to third-party websites or app store pages. We do not control these services or sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED, THAT UPDATE INFORMATION WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE, THAT ANY UPDATE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR OR COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR DEVICE, OR THAT PREMIUM FEATURES WILL BE AVAILABLE ON EVERY DEVICE OR ANDROID VERSION.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YK CUBE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, DEVICE MALFUNCTION, OR LOSS ARISING FROM SYSTEM OR APPLICATION UPDATES PERFORMED BY ANDROID, GOOGLE PLAY, OR YOUR DEVICE MANUFACTURER, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, FOR THE APP OR FOR PREMIUM IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless YK Cube from any claims, damages, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the App.
13. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling the App does not cancel an active subscription; cancel it in your Google Play account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App, to Premium features, or to advertising features if you violate these Terms. Sections 8, 10, 11, 12, and 15 survive termination.
14. Changes to the App and These Terms
We may update, change, or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time. We may also revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify you through the App or the store listing. Your continued use of the App after a change takes effect means that you accept the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the App shall be brought in the competent courts of the Republic of Korea, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
